DfAM Accelerator Event at Penn State
Two day in-person intensive to get up to speed on the latest on design for additive manufacturing September 27-28
Penn State University is hosting a two day in person Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) Accelerator Tuesday, September 27- Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
Aimed at professionals in design and manufacturing to learn from and connect with industry experts on the current state of the art of design for additive manufacturing.
Given the strong industry interest in our Additive Manufacturing & Design graduate program, it was natural that Penn State host a practitioner-oriented additive manufacturing event focused on Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM).
DfAM is often secondary to other topics at national conferences and events, and we wanted to gather industry experts and researchers to deep dive into the best “tips and tricks” for maximizing the benefits of DfAM.
We named the event “DfAM Accelerator” because the goal is to accelerate adoption of additive manufacturing in industry by sharing best practices for DfAM from the practitioner point of view, the hardware point of view, and the software point of view, combined with the latest research findings.
We also wanted to rethink how we organize and run conferences to ensure that everyone finds value in traveling to attend in person; so, we are planning short and impactful presentations and panel discussions followed by ample networking opportunities, demos, and tours during the two-day event.
Dr. Tim Simpson, Paul Morrow Professor in Engineering Design & Manufacturing, Penn State
Over the course of the agenda, representatives from hardware, software and academia along with practitioners in the field will focus on sharing best practices, software tools and applications.
Registration fee is $250 per person that covers all meals and networking events.
Sponsorship opportunities are also open to support the event with the benefit of attending and potentially presenting at the event, along with interacting with attendees during breaks and networking events with a dedicated booth so please get in touch if you are interested in participating.
Events dedicated to DfAM are slowly starting to emerge from both industry and academia as there is more awareness about the importance of DfAM education to realize the potential of AM.
Other events include The International Conference on Design for 3D Printing in Singapore and those supported by the Design for AM Network in the UK that further elevate the sharing of ideas and knowledge around DfAM.
